1. What is the format of your lessons?
Most lessons are 1/2 an hour to start, with lessons of 45 minutes or an hour for older and/or more experienced singers. A typical lesson will consist of a vocal warm-up and technical exercises, followed by time spent on vocal repertoire.
2. How will I know that you are the right teacher for me?
All students start with a consultation lesson, which, depending on the age of the student, is usually a bit longer than a standard lesson. That allows us time to discuss your goals and for you (student or parent) to ask me questions. I do not allow students to commit to a series of lessons until after they have had the first consultation lesson, simply because finding the right fit with a teacher is so important.
3. I have an audition or a performance. Can you help me get ready?
Certainly, but keep in mind that learning to sing to your ability is not a process that takes place overnight. The earlier you start taking lessons, the more progress you will make.
4. Do you teach belting?
No, I do not. Belting can be done in a healthy way but I do not currently have the experience with this technique to teach it safely. If you wish to learn "legit" singing, I can certainly help you.
